A Story from Adam Gerencser

Hey Uncle John,

I know it's been a while since I've seen you, but that doesn't mean you haven't had a place in my thoughts and memories.  What really brings me back to the memories we had as a family are the times I hear Shania Twain or Fleetwood Mac.  Anytime their music comes on, I think of how well you could belt out songs like "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" or "Go Your Own Way" at the top of your lungs.  Maybe it should have been you up on those stages... .

I remember those nights when we would show up to your place, late in the night for a family weekend at John MelLin Camp, and we'd watch the entirety of those live concert videos you had.  I don't think our family ever sang in the world more than we did at your house.  It always just seemed to bring the song out of everyone.

That brings me to another fond memory I have of when all of the cousins were singing Savage Garden's "Truly, Madly, Deeply" together, unprompted... And again, that was at your house.

I don't think these memories will ever fade for me, as long as I keep hearing those artists and songs every now and again.  I'm not sure if you remember these times, but I sure do.  So, even if it's been a while since I've seen you, it feels like it was just yesterday whenever these songs come on.
